We started mensefulbase because spreadsheets stopped being enough.

A small team of finance operators and applied ML engineers, building from Stockholm for European mid-market companies that take their P&L seriously.

Our story

The first version was a script.

In 2023, our founders were running finance and engineering at a 600-person Nordic SaaS company. A weekend hack — a Python script that reconciled six months of AWS invoices against the contract — found €214,000 in over-billing that nobody had time to chase.

The script became a tool. The tool became a platform. The platform became mensefulbase: a quiet, well-engineered way to put a competent analyst on every single line of spend in your company, 24 hours a day.

We're not here to replace your finance team. We're here to give them the leverage they should have had ten years ago.

How we work

Four principles we don't compromise on.

Explainability over magic

Every recommendation links back to source documents and the exact model that produced it. If we can't explain it, we don't ship it. Black-box AI has no place in a finance workflow.

Read-only by default

We never push changes to your systems automatically. Your team approves every recommendation before it touches a supplier, a contract or a budget.

EU data, EU rules

All client data stays in the EU — Frankfurt and Stockholm. We don't sub-process to non-EU jurisdictions. Your DPO can sleep at night.

Pay for outcomes

Our pricing is anchored to savings booked. If we don't find net savings in the first 90 days, the next quarter is on us. We mean it.
